Families

Parents for Families

How can parents nurture and care for their children when they themselves sometimes need to be cared for and nurtured, yet often find that there is little support available to them?

• Parents need support, in order to have some breathing space from the day to day stresses that can be experienced in raising children and in doing so, replenish their own inner resources.

• Parents need to receive encouragement and positive feedback in their role as parents

• Parents need, to have access to information, different approaches and guidance in “managing” difficult behaviours and situations

• Parents need support, to help them “normalise the sometimes difficult experiences they will encounter in raising their children.

• Parents need support, to help them enjoy rewarding and joyful aspects of child-rearing.

The scheme provides support to families of all types and compositions including:

• Stepfamilies
• Lone mothers/fathers
• Homeless families
• Refugee families
• Two parent families • travelling families
• Adoptive families
• Teenage parents
• Divorced/separated families and
• Grandparents who are main carers
